About Chris Chris received a master of arts in speech from Northwestern University and a master of arts in counseling psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. He is the co-founder and CEO of Restoration Project (restorationproject.net), a ministry devoted to helping men recover their hearts by healing their wounds, knowing God, and restoring the world. He is a licensed professional counselor, and the founder and CEO of ReStory® Counseling (restory.life), leading a diverse and collaborative team of Storywork counselors around the country. Chris has been married to Beth for 27 years and they have three mostly adult children. After spending the better part of a decade in missions in the Near East, they settled in his home state of Colorado. But their love for travel permeates their home and dinnertime conversations and a good adventure is always in the works. Mental health is becoming an increasingly discussed topic in our culture. The more we understand our own mental health the healthier we become as leaders. On today's episode, we're bringing you a recent talk that was featured in our Right Side Up Collective with Dr. Mark Mayfield. Mark is a former pastor, coach, and expert in the mental health field. About Dr.Mayfield Dr. Mark Mayfield is a former pastor, a licensed professional counselor (LPC), a board certified counselor, and founder and CEO of Mayfield Counseling Centers. He has more than 14 years of professional counseling experience in clinical, judicial, and faith-based counseling settings across a wide range of patient demographics. Mayfield has professional experience in treating and addressing anxiety, depression, and PTSD, substance abuse, domestic violence, self-injury, and suicide. He is passionate about the integration of faith and mental health. Dr. Mayfield recently launched his book, titled “HELP! My Teen is Self-Injuring: A Crisis Manual for Parents” which addresses his own suicide survival story, self-injury, and how to help your child who might be going through this. His second book “The Path Out of Loneliness: Finding and Fostering Connection to God, Ourselves, and One Another”, published through NavPress/Tyndale House, releases September 2021 He has been featured in prominent media outlets including Woman’s Day, Hello Giggles, NBC, Reader’s Digest, Byrdie, and more. Dr. Mayfield is on a list of mental health professionals that was invited to the White House in December 2019 and has had periodic calls with the White House to discuss mental health in America. When we try to find a balance between things that aren't meant to be balanced we find ourselves more reactive and living and leading like we're tight rope walkers uncomfortably trying to cross the Grand Canyon. About Nancy Nancy Ortberg served as a teaching pastor for eight years at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois. During that time she led Network, a ministry that helps people identify their spiritual gifts and find a place of service in the church, and Axis, a weekly gathering for the eighteen- to twenty-something generation. She is a founding partner of Teamworx 2, a business and leadership consulting firm that provides fast-paced, practical, and compelling sessions to leaders and their teams. Teamworx 2 works with businesses, schools, nonprofits, and churches to address issues of organizational effectiveness and teamwork. Nancy is a gifted communicator who is passionate about helping people connect what they believe with their everyday lives. She is currently the CEO of Transforming the Bay with Christ, a non-profit organization working to catalyze a holistic gospel movement in the San Francisco Bay Area.
